MISSION
To formulate policies and procedures to facilitate the implementation of procurement system through standardizing, monitoring, investigating and reporting in order to ensure value for money
OBJECTIVE
Develop sound public procurement policies and procedures, ensure adherence, establish an effective performance monitoring system, establish an accreditation system for procurement officials, and strengthen service delivery through compliance with sound public procurement principles.
National Procurement Commission of Sri Lanka
The National Procurement Commission of Sri Lanka was established under Article 156B(1) of Chapter XIX B of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. The Commission comprises of five members appointed by the President based on the recommendations of the Constitutional Council.
As provided in the aforesaid Article, among the members of the Commission, at least three must have proven experience in procurement, accountancy, law, or public administration. It is further provided that the President, upon the recommendation of the Constitutional Council, shall appoint one of the members as the Chairman of the Commission.
